Andy (David Jonsson)
Aside from the utterly thrilling and terifying plot that touches all the correct bases for those deeply versed in Alien lore, Romulus is a rather excellent sci-fi horror movie, one that finally succeeds after many overblown rather over itellectualised science fiction pseudo philosophical movies about aliens and perfect life forms and the origins and meanings of existence, the nature of life, the nature of genetics vis a vis human identity and destiny, the existence of God, and other pointless overwritten dramas that made me yawn and simply switch off . The first few Alien movies were superb (I (1979)and II (1986) particularly). After that, well, not so much. One wonders if the makers of such movies actually ever sat back, had a coffe, and just for a moment thought that perhaps that if they stopped trying to sell their audiences alternate theories of life and complex philosphical principles and concentrated on the one thing that was necessary, a really good story that was well acted and excecuted, the movie itself would actually do the rest. Alien Romulus is a great flick with compelling characters and an excellent plot and it really covers a multitude of ideas and themes. I saw it in Vue in Limerick City and I sat up front with Izabel and was terrified and thrilled for two hours. It was excellent escapism. The cast is great. The lead is great. The director did a great job. But I loved Andy. Andy was and is cool. I put his pic up there. Dont look up Wikipedia about the movie, maybe check it out yourself and see how you liked it. Me? I can’t wait for the next one.
