How Trumps Regime is Becoming Totalitarian

In the USA right now the Trump regime is in the process of actually seizing the state. While the remnants of the old regime based on the constitution remains in place, a kind of ghost of its former self, the legislative as well as the executive branches of the government are in the process of being eliminated and replaced by racist, sexist and xenophobic laws that are isolating the US from its former friends and allying it with the most brutal totalitarian regimes world wide. The Trump administration is in the process of amassing its own private army and paying for it through the taxpayers purse. The regime itself is in its very essence protean. It has no actual form that you can say ‘aha!’ Rather it hides beneath legitimate offices and existing structures. It operates on a kind of anxiety and terror inducing shift from one policy to another, a kind of legerdemain where one crisis after another is introduced in the form of horrendous headlines while at the same time in the background Trump and his thugs are consolidating power. This is all happening of course in the name of freedom and keeping America great and dealing with enemies of the people and the thousand other cliches and obfuscatory tactics that any totalitarian regime deploys to dull the sensibilities of its people and quell unrest and blind people to what is really happening. Totalitarians typically seek to blame the ills of a given society on a specific group, not necessarily that of the gen pop, in other words a people taking responsibility for their own problems. In the case of the Nazis, for instance it was the Jewish population. In the case of Trump, its immigrants, despite the fact he has married an immigrant more than once, and a few generations ago, his own family emigrated from Germany. Lies, doublethink and self deception, not to mention massive personal corruption (his sons and son in law are his business operatives while he is in office and his many investments are doing shall we say remarkably well indeed), are the diseases that infect this very sick person who very probably also has frontotemporal dementia, diseases that have spread right across his whole government of stooges and yes people. If the next election turns out that Trump loses, well its election fraud. If a journalist writes a negative article about the regime, its fake news. If you speak out against the regime, you go on an enemies list and you are either fired, or you are disgraced or are investigated by his increasingly corrupt justice department or intimidated by obedient law enforcement officials or locked away in some horrific camp where his new secret police will detain you or torture you or whatever they are doing to those deemed ‘not one of us’. Accusations of corruption are lies, smears on his character. Loyalty is rewarded so long as its blind loyalty. People are being installed to follow the unthinking, and when I say the word unthinking I mean absolutely unthinking, obedience. The brain drain from the USA is shocking. Who wants to stay in a country where you are not free to think outside the box and increase the deposit of knowledge in the country? You can, if you kowtow to the great leader’s corrupt regime. Europe is certainly benefiting from it. the thing is its important to never think, to shift the thinking and therefore the responsibility for these illegal immoral corrupt orders to ones superiors, the gods of the Trump regime, and follow order or lose ones job one’s pension or wind up in jail. To take an apposite historical example, Hannah Arendt, for instance, was shocked when she met Adolph Eichmann in Jerusalem. Eichmann was the bureaucrat who prepared the minutes of the Wannasee Conference, one of the functionaries of the Holocaust. He was a shockingly ordinary guy, utterly boring and pedestrian, loved his wife and kids. Eichmann was not an angry ideologue, no bitterness, no real hatred of jews or gypsies or gays or epileptics, or any of the others consigned to oblivion by the Third Reich. He was pronounced sane by six psychiatrists, declared well balanced, untroubled. His chief quality was he didn’t think, didn’t reflect. He was absolved of the torments of self reflection. He believed in the Hitler Cult. So many believe blindly now in the Cult of Trump. He followed orders. He thought in cliches. We have our very own freshly squeezed cliches from the USA now that we hear endlessly in Europe: Make America Great? Fake News? Trump Derangement Syndrome? These cliches, and others like them are there to stop people seeing the wood for the trees, and the ‘wood’ is thoroughly rotten, corrupt and destroying a once great nation that had many flaws but stood for something. There is little or no thinking involved now in the USA Trump Admin. If there is, nobody says a word. Fear and paranoia and savage rivalry rule the roost, just like back in Eichmann’s time. For Europe and in the US for its ordinary people, its all so shocking from one day to the next that its impossible to take a breath, stand back, and see what’s going on. And what is going on is dreadful. What is involved in the Trump Regime the installation of a new law, that being the will of the leader himself. History doesn’t repeat itself. It rhymes. A lot of what’s going on in the USA rhymes with many other totalitarian take overs. We have lost our leader in the West. We are in deep trouble.
